The MICU RN focuses on managing complex medical conditions, such as respiratory failure, sepsis, organ failure, and other life-threatening illnesses. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n

  • Assess, plan, and implement care for critically ill patients in the MICU, managing complex medical conditions and life-threatening situations.\n
  • Monitor and evaluate patients' vital signs, physiological status, and responses to treatment, adjusting care plans as needed.\n
  • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and life-support interventions such as mechanical ventilation, vasopressors, and sedation.\n
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust treatment plans based on patient needs.\n
  • Provide advanced critical care for conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, acute renal failure, and cardiac dysfunction.\n
  • Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and expected outcomes, ensuring understanding and emotional support.\n
  • Recognize and respond to life-threatening complications such as arrhythmias, sepsis, acute respiratory distress, and multi-system organ failure.\n
  • Perform procedures such as central line placement, arterial line monitoring, and other critical interventions.\n
  • Support patients in pain management, including the use of opioids, sedation, and non-pharmacological approaches.\n
  • Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in accordance with hospital policies.\n
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families in high-stress, critical care environments.\n\n\nQualifications:\n

    • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.\n
    • Licensure:\n

      • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.\n\n\n
      • Certification:\n

        • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.\n
        • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.\n
