About the role!
This position is for a Lead Chemist possessing in-depth technical
knowledge to perform multiple laboratory functions and various
types of laboratory analysis. They will oversee the day-to-day of a
team of chemists while providing technical expertise and ensuring
compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do
- Mentoring junior chemists, providing technical guidance,
training, and assist with evaluating performance.
- Perform a variety of instrumental analysis to produce data. The
data will be owned by the client.
- Conduct routine analyses in compliance with applicable methods,
protocols, SOPs, and regulatory agency guidelines.
- Operate a variety of instrumentation to generate comprehensive
and high-quality analytical results.
- Instrumentation may include Liquid/powder handling systems,
U/HPLC, preparatory HPLC, Lyophilizer, Mass spectrometers,
microscopes, and X-ray diffractometers.
- Implement client scope of services and ensure all programs and
procedures are being properly followed.
- Verify compliance with performance, safety, statutory, and
regulatory requirements, and company policies, standards, and
procedures.
- Process performance metrics. This includes tracking,
evaluating, and reporting performance in terms of quality, safety,
cost, and customer satisfaction.
- Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better
methods for accomplishing both individual and department
objectives.
- Preparation of laboratory reagents.
- Synthesize, analyze, and purify compounds as required.
- Perform method analysis and development.
- Perform daily work activities with computer programs which may
include: Chemstation, Empower, and Microsoft programs including
Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in
most or all areas within the function.
- Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with
CBRE RISE values. Anticipates potential objections and persuades
others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to adopt
a different point of view.
- Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, or
service objectives across multi-discipline teams. Work is guided by
functional policies which impact the design of procedures and
policies.
- Contribute to new products, processes, standards, and/or
operational plans in support of achieving functional goals.
- Communicate difficult and complex ideas with the ability to
influence.
What you'll need
- Demonstrated ability to create and motivate teams to accomplish
successful outcomes.
- Experience managing client relationships; customer-focused
orientation
- High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8
years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a
combination of experience and education will be considered. Prior
shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Must have laboratory experience and be familiar with general
laboratory practices in a pharmaceutical environment.
- Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping,
standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to
lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
- The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond
existing solutions.
- Proficient in problem-solving using conventional and inventive
methods that significantly influence the business.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples
include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Expert organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive
mindset.
- Highly sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate somewhat
complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other
financial-related calculations.
